Santos

Santos was born at the request of his friend, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont, by Louis Cartier, the third generation of Cartier. At the time when the watch to carry was a pocket watch, Cartier developed a watch that could be worn around the wrist in response to a friend's request to "keep his hands on the watch while flying." Despite various theories, Santos is said to be the world's first wristwatch with a wristwatch case and lugs.
Born in 1904, Santos was marketed as "Santos Dumont" in 1911 and continues to be lined up as a representative collection of Cartier.

The distinctive design is also the charm of Santos. When Santos was born, pocket watches generally had a round dial, and the square case was very innovative. In addition, it has both an elegant atmosphere and a sports watch-like design, such as screw fastening with the motif of airplane screws and a railway scale that engraves fractions.
Now, more than 100 years after the birth of the first generation, Santos has more variations in materials and sizes, and the movement has also been improved. However, no major changes have been made to the basic design and it has been carried over to the current model.

A wide variety of variations is one of the features of Santos.
The "Santos Galve" series, which has a curved case to enhance the wearing feeling, attracted a lot of attention with the release of a skeleton dial type. In 2004, the 100th anniversary of the collection's announcement, the "Santos 100" was announced, which has a thick and thick design that incorporates the trends of the time.
