Milgauss

磁気に弱い機械式腕時計において、磁気帯びは精度を狂わせる要因です。一度磁気帯びすると自然に元に戻ることはないため、腕時計には磁気帯びを防ぐ耐磁性能が求められます。ミルガウスは、専用に設計された強磁性の合金製ケースやパーツにより、高い耐磁性を実現。一般的な機械式腕時計が、50～100ガウスほどの磁場で精度に影響を受けるとされていることからも、ミルガウスの性能の高さがうかがえます。
高い耐磁性を備えるために、ケースは二重構造を採用しているのも特徴です。サブマリーナやデイトナよりもケースが厚く、重量もわずかに重く感じられます。

優れた耐磁性能もさることながら、ユニークで美しい文字盤もミルガウスの特徴です。Ref.6541 や現行モデルに採用されている、ジグザグ形状の「イナズマ針」は、ミルガウスの代名詞的存在です。
また、ミルガウス誕生50周年記念モデルとして発表されたRef.116400GVは、ロレックスが独自開発したグリーンサファイア風防を採用。個性的ながら主張しすぎないデザインで人気を博しています。シーンを問わず、さまざまなシチュエーションで使いやすい点もミルガウスの魅力のひとつです。

The Milgauss was born in an era when electronic devices that emit magnetism are not as widespread as they are now, and there are few opportunities for the general public to come into contact with them. Due to the fact that it was large and heavy for a wristwatch at that time, the market size was small and production was discontinued in the latter half of the 1980s.
However, in the 2000s when mobile phones became widespread, watch makers began to focus on anti-magnetic measures. Under such circumstances, Milgauss made a comeback in 2007 for the first time in about 20 years. The revival Milgauss attracted attention because it has a lightning needle similar to Ref.6541.
