This is the second-generation Ref. 16710, which appeared in 1988 to replace the previous Ref. 16760.
With the popularity of the GMT-Master II, production of the original GMT-Master was discontinued in 2000. However, the blue-and-red two-tone and solid black bezel that was only available on the Ref. 16700 was carried over to the Ref. 16710. Since then, the Ref. 16710 has been available in a total of three bezels: blue-and-red and solid black, in addition to the traditional black-and-red two-tone.
