About Ingenieur
IWC's "Ingenieur" collection was announced with the appeal of its high magnetic resistance. Ingenieur is the German word for engineer and was created as a tribute to the profession of engineering and the spirit of inventorship that prevailed in the 1950s.
Since the announcement of the first model, which sold excellent magnetic resistance, it is characterized by continuing to change greatly according to the times, and in recent years it has established itself as a sports watch. Also, in 2005, a collaboration model with Mercedes AMG became a big topic.
High magnetic resistance
Ingenieur is an iconic collection of anti-magnetic watches. The revolutionary method of covering the movement with a soft iron inner case overcomes the weakness of mechanical watches, which is magnetism. In particular, the "Ingenieur 500,000 A/m (Ref.3508)" announced in 1989 achieved a measured value of over 3.7 million A/m, setting a world record for anti-magnetic wristwatches at the time.
Although it has not been widely appealed in recent years, the current model is also sufficiently resistant to magnetic fields in daily life. It is a model suitable for modern life surrounded by many electronic devices.

Designed by Gerald Genta
The Ingenieur SL, announced in 1976, was the foundation of the design of the Ingenieur, which continues to the current model. Gerald Genta, who is famous for designing Patek Philippe's Nautilus and Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak. While equipped with a thick movement of 5.9 mm, it has a design that does not make you feel the thickness.
Since then, many models have followed the design of the Ingenieur SL, while repeating model changes, such as increasing the lineup of dial colors and belts. It is now established as an icon of the Ingenieur collection.

The current model converts to a sports watch
After the Ingenieur was discontinued for a period of time, it was revived with a major model change in 2005. Models that use materials used in the motorsports world, such as titanium and ceramic, are characteristic. The size of the case has been increased to meet modern needs, and the image has changed to a sporty one.
In addition, since 2013, models equipped with complex mechanisms such as chronographs and perpetual calendars have appeared with the introduction of models equipped with thin movements that use non-magnetic resistant cases. Boasting high waterproofness and robustness, the current model with a simple design has gained popularity as a stylish sports watch with excellent practicality.
