About Autavia

TAG Heuer's oldest collection, Autavia, has its roots in the dashboard timers installed in the cockpits of automobiles and aircraft, manufactured in the 1930s. The name Autavia comes from a coined word that combines "Automobile" and "Aviation".
The name is used for the wristwatch from the chronograph with a rotating bezel, which was born in 1962.
Although it disappeared from the collection once, it will be revived in 2019 as a model equipped with an in-house caliber. The collection has been reborn into a modern design suitable for adventurers, and is still evolving even now, celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Autavia is TAG Heuer's oldest collection, originating from the dashboard timers for automobiles and aircraft developed in 1933. The fourth generation of the Heuer family, Jack Heuer himself, was reborn in 1962 as a chronograph wristwatch with a rotating bezel.
The first model with a large in-dial is loved by fans under the popular name of "Big Eye". Although it was temporarily discontinued, it will be revived as a new Autavia in 2019. Even now, more than half a century after its birth, it is a wristwatch that is still popular with many enthusiasts.

TAG Autavia, which has many ambassador models, is considered to be the forerunner of TAG Heuer.
TAG Heuer has installed the world's first Automatic winding movement "Chronomatic Caliber 11" in Autavia and appointed F1 driver Jo Siffert as the brand's first ambassador. Recognized by F1 racers, Autavia has grown into a collection favored by many well-known drivers for its highly visible dials and high reliability. The model worn by the famous F1 racer is also very popular as a collector's item.

At the time of its release, Autavia was manufactured as a racing chronograph. As the name suggests, the first model featured a design reminiscent of a car.
After a period of discontinuation, Autavia will be revived in 2019 and will be transformed into a modern look while following the original generation. Equipped with hands coated with luminous paint, an Arabic index dial with excellent visibility, and a strap system that allows easy belt replacement, the practicality is greatly improved. With the theme of "a watch suitable for adventurers," it has been reborn under a new concept.
