About reference 14270
What is Reference 14270?
Ref.14270 is a 5-digit reference Explorer I manufactured from 1990 to 2000 following Ref.1016. The difference from the previous model Ref.1016 is that the Crystal has been changed from plastic to sapphire crystal, and the movement has been changed from Cal.1570 to Cal.3000. In addition, the dial index has a metal border.

The bracelet was a single buckle until the T number, but it was changed to a double buckle with a minor change, and the horizontal hole in the case was blocked. In 1998, the luminous paint was changed from tritium to Superluminova. Conventionally, the dial notation at the 6 o'clock position of the dial "SWISS-T<25" indicates that tritium is used for the luminous paint, but the so-called "Super-LumiNova" is used. There is a rare vintage model called "Tritinova".

Of the E-to-P numbers, E-numbers in the early stages of production have no white lines on the numbers 3, 6, and 9 of the index, and are called "blackouts." There are two types, one with black lines instead of white lines and the other with metal numbers. In addition, there are “silver letter” with silver ROLEX logo and crown mark on the dial and “white letter” with white notation, and the rarity of “silver letter” is high.
