About A. Lange & Söhne
Lange & Söhne is one of the world's top five watch brands, along with Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. It is also known as the only German manufacturer among the five major brands. After its founding in 1845, it was tossed by the times of World War II and the Cold War, but in 1990, the great-grandson of the founder rebuilt it and established itself as a luxury watch brand.
The classic models such as "Lange 1", "Saxonia", "Datograph" and "Zeitwerk" are representative works. Watchmaking backed by high technology deserves a first-class name, and is attracting attention all over the world as Germany's premier watch maker.
History of Lange & Söhne
Lange & Söhne began in 1845 when Ferdinand Adolf Lange founded a watch workshop in Glashütte, Germany. After Adolf's death, his son became the successor, and in 1868 the brand "Lange & Söhne" was born.
After that, the head office factory was completely destroyed by an air raid during World War II. After the war, it was nationalized by the East German government. However, the brand was revived in 1990 when East and West Germany were reunified due to the fall of the Berlin Wall, led by the 4th generation Walter Lange.
In 1994, he released his masterpiece Lange 1, and since then he has released various models such as Saxonia and Datograph.

Commitment to manufacturing
The appeal of Lange & Söhne watches lies in their commitment to manufacturing. At Lange & Söhne, it is a feature that the movement, which is composed of many parts, is finished in two sets in order to operate smoothly.
The first time, assemble with unfinished parts and check the operation. If there are no problems, the parts are finished after disassembly, and the second assembly is performed.
You can see the thorough commitment to manufacturing, such as engraving (line engraving) on parts that cannot be confirmed from the outside. The beauty of the finish is highly evaluated, and it is said that those who are familiar with watches can understand Lange & Söhne watches without looking at the logo.

Beautiful western silver parts
The usual movement uses brass, which is easy to process, but Lange & Söhne uses nickel silver, which is harder than brass. Nickel silver is an alloy made from copper, zinc, and nickel, and is characterized by its golden surface that does not need to be plated. However, it is difficult to assemble because it is not surface-treated, and it is only used by some brands.
At first, you can see the silver movement turning golden over time, which is a unique charm of Lange & Söhne watches. You can enjoy the beauty of not only New products but also Used products.
